Our journey began with a vision for global collaboration and innovation.
Lopos was founded by four engineers with deep expertise in localization technologies. After 10 years of research at IDLab (Ghent University – imec), they turned their knowledge into action, launching Lopos to bring advanced safety tech to the market.
We started in a niche market, tracking animal behavior on farms, where we could test, learn, and build.
From idea to impact in record time.
When COVID hit, we pivoted fast. We developed SafeDistance, a wearable solution for social distancing and contact tracing. Its success came from smart tech, but also simplicity: easy to configure, intuitive to use.
By the end of the year, over 100 corporate customers worldwide were using our technology to protect their people.
From pandemic solution to industrial protection.
Our SafeDistance solution was selected by the Global Best Practice Programme of Expo 2020 in Dubai, highlighting it as a life-improving innovation during the pandemic.In the lead-up to the Expo, CNN filmed a feature at Atlas Copco showing how our distance trackers were being used to create a safe workplace.
That same year, we launched LoposAlert, a modular, high-precision collision warning system to reduce forklift and vehicle-related incidents in warehouses and factories.It marked a new phase for Lopos: focused on scalable, tech-driven safety.
Milestone: Lopos wins Deloitte Rising Star Award.
We were named Deloitte’s Rising Star 2022, recognizing Lopos as one of Belgium’s most promising and innovative tech scale-ups. A strong vote of confidence in both our team and technology.
In 2022, we also obtained strategic intellectual property related to key components of our proximity warning solutions—further strengthening our technology leadership and product differentiation in the global market.

After 3 years of reseller-driven growth, we launched Lopos Technologies Inc. with a local office in North America to better serve our customers with local expertise and direct support.
Lopos became a specialized technology company with a clear focus on proximity warning and industrial safety.
